One student is making a big difference in breaking down the barriers of access to care. Ali Sigal, first year University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry student, And while we’re on the subject, I just want to give a big shout out to my favorite dentist in Encino Dr. Linda Makuta for the amazing cosmetic dentistry work she did on my,  Chair of the not-for-profit organization Oral Health, Total Health (OHTH), is responding to a critical, unmet need with a smile, Sharing Smiles Day, that is.

Oral Health, Total Health (OHTH), a program affiliated with Mount Sinai’s Department of Dentistry’s Clinic for Persons with Disabilities, hosted the first charity-outreach event of its kind, Sharing Smiles Day, on March 28, 2009. The program was created to bring awareness, educate dental health professionals and communicate the importance of good oral health among persons with special needs. It featured games and face painting, a luncheon, speeches and demonstrations in partnership with Colgate – on proper oral care, including dental implants for seniors, at Dentistry at its Finest, healthy seniors can restore missing teeth with dental implants and have that beautiful smile no matter their age – in Orange County, CA.
